Did you know yesterday I got nothing scrapped? I didn't even open a graphics program! I got a lot done just none of it at the computer!
I went to Hamilton yesterday to the Pool Shoppe to have my pool water tested and get some advice about the algae issue.I get in there and a summer student want s to help me out. I told her "thank you but no. I want the owner to help me out." I want someone who actually knows what they are talking about dealing with me. Last time I talked to a student they sold me a $50 bottle of algaecide . Now I'm back with algae and a little bit more cranky because the $50 algaecide did jack squat. The owner was very pleasant and knowledgable. She tested my water and we found out that my chemical levels are all bang on where they should be.So the algae isn't from chemicals going wonky. The algae is in my sand filter. Breeding and re-breeding. All it takes is a tiny spore and it will turn a pool green in 2 days. That $50 algaecide is designed for pools that don't have a problem. It's mainly for hot-tubs. She was a little bit ticked that the chick with the nose piercings sold me spa algaecide. You are supposed to ask the size and kind of pool they have. I don't have a hot tub (I wish). Mine is 16'x32'x52" oval above ground. She talked to me about this stuff called copper sulphate. It kills the algae. Kills it...dead. It kills it in the pool AND in the filter. Imagine that. Two blue pucks that sit in your skimmer. They dissolve and kill all the living organisms. And it's good for 30 days. After that you add 1 puck every 30 days in the skimmer for maintenance. All that for 22 bucks. I bought them but was leery about them. She explained what to do BEFORE I put them in the skimmer. So yesterday I was in the pool for over 2 hours scrubbing down the walls of the pool, we took out the steps and scrubbed them down and then I was to walk all over the pool and loosen up anything that was caught in nooks and crannys so it was floating. All this so the copper sulphate could clean it. In goes the magic blue pucks. Within 4 hours, we noticed a HUGE difference. The green tinge is gone and the water is actually clear and sparkling. I was just out there about 20 minutes ago and it's like a brand new pool. The pucks aren't completely dissolved yet , so I'll have to get back in there this morning and loosen everything up again...oh darn.... I no longer have to use liquid algaecide...one puck a month. I wish the students would have advised me on that LAST year...would have saved hundreds of dollars in chemicals, sand and water....Guess they need repeat business & it's my fault for not letting my inner bee-otch out....
I'm going to double up on the freebies today. There are 3 parts left of this kit (bet you're relieved to see it end)and my bud Candie from my Creative Team made y'all a QP too. So 2 parts today and then the last 2 tomorrow....
Little bows in white this time...

Ooops! No longer available!
OK I'm off...have a few things to do and then I'm going to do 2 layouts today if it kills me!!

Thank you for the two new pieces to the kit! Sounds like your pool problem might finally be under control, yeah! I wish I had a pool, maybe I'll splurge and get a small one.
Thank you I like this kit a lot
I'm with Marta...all this talk of the pool makes me want to spend a bit of cash & get me one!! To think it's only the end of June & it's steaming hot all the time!
Well thanks for the 2 newest parts of the kit...they are beautiful as usual =)
Algae sucks. Our next door neighbor's pool is always so green that the kids write their names in the bottom. Needless to say, my daughter doesn't swim there. BTW, this kit is truly awesome, girl! Did you see my Canada Day freebie on my blog? It's coming up quick!
Kate
Thanks for the next couple links. BTW, went and checked out your store and I am in LOVE with your Greco kit. But since I am on an allowance, I must wait to see what else you've got coming (or maybe not, don't know if I can wait.) Ok, you talked me into it, I'm going to go get it now. Twisted my arm....
Thanks. True that better deal with person who know more about problem than new person who don't. I feel your pain.
Thanks so much for sharing! :)
Thanks so much for the newest downloads!! And for the tip about the Copper Sulphate!! I'm gonna have to check around and get me some :( Yep, pool is pea green...just lovely...
Wow - thanks for the copper sulphate tip! So far so good with our pool but by mid summer last year I was battling the greenie's with a lot of $$$ too. This year I'll know what to ask for!!
